Hockey season is back, and this year we’re hitting the ice for a bigger purpose! I’m excited to announce the 2nd Annual Face-Off Against Hunger Challenge, a partnership between GetJoyfull, former Edmonton Oiler Jason Strudwick, and the Alberta Chicken Producers. Together, we’re rallying the hockey community to support families in need, fuel healthy habits, and fight hunger across Alberta.

Whether you’re a player, coach, or hockey fan, this is your chance to make a difference. Last year, we helped provide over 1,000 meals to local families and raised 10,000 lbs of food! This year, we’re aiming for even more, and we need your team to get involved!

How Does It Work?

It’s easy! Here’s how your team can join the challenge:

1. Sign up your team at FuellingFamilies.com
2. Rally your team to collect food bank donations. Gather non-perishable food items or raise funds to donate directly.
3. Make a donation to your local Alberta food bank. Every bit helps families in your community.
4. Spread the word! Share your team’s participation on social media and with your community, encouraging others to join the cause.

By taking these steps, your team will be automatically entered into the Fuelling Families Contest for a chance to win an unforgettable experience—a team practice with Jason Strudwick and a personalized sports nutrition session with me, Emily Mardell.

Hockey dad and Alberta Chicken Farmer Andre Poulin and his son Aidan.

Why Join the Challenge?

In Alberta, many families are still facing food insecurity, and in coming together, we can help make a real impact. When your team signs up for the Face-Off Against Hunger Challenge, you’re not just helping those in need—you’re also setting your athletes up for success with our Power Plays on the Plate e-book, featuring easy, nutritious recipes to fuel your team all season long.

From Oil-Country Orange Chicken to Game-Day Buffalo Chicken Meatballs, you’ll find plenty of ideas to keep your team fuelled and ready for every game.

Don’t Miss Out!

This is your chance to combine hockey, community, and good food in one powerful challenge. Visit FuellingFamilies.com to sign up today, start collecting donations, and get your team involved in giving back. Plus, with the chance to win a practice with Jason Strudwick and a nutrition session with me, it’s a win-win for your team and your community!

Let’s Face-Off Against Hunger this season—together, we can fuel families and healthier communities.

Joyfully,

Emily
